Combat Posting Basics
There are three ground rules for combat that all characters, NPC characters, monster, and anything involving an "In-Game-Battle" abide by.
Remember your RULES!
The attacker declares the action while the defender declares the results.
This means that when two characters are thrown into combat, the attacker may not decide how the defender will react or not react to any of his or her attacks. For example:
General Courtesies:
This post is wrong for the attacker should not know whether or not his kick made any contact at all. So it should read like this:
In this way, the defender understands the exact action of the attackers post, and can act accordingly.
At the beginning of a session, a player should post his or her characters statistics that will be used through out the session. This is to prohibit the use of becoming stronger in the middle of sessions. If you feel your character has progressed enough, please restart your RP with a new session.
Example:
Arou walks into the room.He has a long sword strapped to both his sides and his wings are spread out in a dazzling display of power and magnificence. (**Any other in post stuff**)
Special Items:
Any / Bonuses
Special Abilities:
Ability to fly at will.
Remember your RULES!
The attacker declares the action while the defender declares the results.
This means that when two characters are thrown into combat, the attacker may not decide how the defender will react or not react to any of his or her attacks. For example:
- Hadakatsu swings wildly at Arou with his longsword.
- Arou ducks nimbly to the side as the blade swooshes down through the air where he had just been.
General Courtesies:
- Called shots are not allowed. This means that the attacker explains exactly what happens. It is sometimes mistaken for the description of the attack when in fact it is taking away from the defenders ability to declare a result.
Example: - Hadakatsu jumped in the air and kicked Arou's face.
This post is wrong for the attacker should not know whether or not his kick made any contact at all. So it should read like this:
- Hadakatsu jumped in the air and aimed a kick towards Arou's face.
In this way, the defender understands the exact action of the attackers post, and can act accordingly.
- DEFENDERS NOTE: Ensure you give ample credit where it is due. No character is immune from harm. Not even a Level 100.
Example:
- Character Level: 1
- Strength: 8 / +0
- Dexterity: 8 / +0
- Wisdom: 8 / +0
- Intelligence: 8 / +0
- Hit Points: 50 / 50
- Armor Class: 10
- Caster Level: Novice
- Weapons:
- Common Longsword

Re: Combat Posting Basics
Now, to actually get into how to work combat. When you would post your actions as an attacker. The first thing you will do type out what it is your character is doing.
Arou slashes forward, aiming for his enemies exposed chest.
Then at the bottom of your screen, just below the PREVIEW and SEND buttons you will see a box that reads:
Dices Roll #1 [And a box] Dice Rolls: [Another Box] +
The Dices Roll Box will be selected as the Combat Dice option. (Don't worry it's the only one on there.)
Your Dice Rolls selection is the number of attacks you can do. We will use one here, since Arou is only attacking once. Remember, based on your Advancement Rank you may only do a certain number of attacks.
And post.

Re: Combat Posting Basics
So... we rolled an amazing 3... maybe Arou tripped and fell or something. We'll let the defender decide.
So using our statistics from before, a Dice Roll of 3 + 0 (Strength Modifier) will give us an attack power of well... 3. Which does not hit our target, who has an AC of at least 10.
And that's the basics.
DEALING DAMAGE:
To deal damage you must land successful attacks by rolling higher than an opponents Armor Class.
Once you have landed a successful attack, you may deduct Damage based on your weapon or caster qualities. As well as any other damage modifiers you may have.
Critical Strikes and Flops:
Rarely is it seen that we truly destroy someone. Or... we destroy ourselves.
These are called Criticals.
During combat if an attacker Rolls a 20 on their attack, their attack is successful regardless if it breaks an opponents Armor Class or not. This attack will also deal double the damage of the total damage dealt.
Now, the same goes for if an attacker turns a complete 180 and rolls a 1. If an attacker rolls a one, not only will that attack miss regardless if it breaks Armor Class or not. But the opposing enemy will also get a free counter attack against the Critical Flop. Essentially, a player who rolls a 1 has left themselves wide open to a counter attack and has no way to defend, reducing their armor class to zero for the next attack.
Total Defeat:
Of a player rolls a 1, it is considered a Critical Flop. But when your opposition rolls a 20 for their free counter attack it is considered total defeat.
In this instance, the counter attack will completely drain the Critical Flopper down to 1 health, regardless of how much Hit Points they had, and what any level difference is. This is a Total Defeat, and you are rendered unable to take action against that player for the rest of the session in fear you will lose more than just the battle again.

- If you were to deal 50 damage with your weapon plus 50 damage with a Racial Bonus you would deal a total of 100 damage. But if you landed a Critical Strike, this amount qould be doubled to 200 damage.

- This does not include multiple attacks. Only the first attack in the counter attack may be considered a "Free" attack. All others must be rolled naturally like any other post.
